Brittany & Giovanni

Independence Park & Colt State Park, Bristol, Rhode Island
August 25th, 2019

As much as I would love to have as wide a variety of engaged couples as possible, if I had my way, they'd all share one key quality: The ability to be flexible and adapt to whatever we encounter on an assignment.

You never know what the real world is going to throw at you and, in my experience, the best clients are the ones willing to roll with the punches.
Perhaps that's why I loved Brittany and Giovanni so much during their August engagement shoot at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island. See, originally, we weren't supposed to go to Colt State Park. Our shoot was scheduled for Independence Park on Thames Street in Bristol. But, after a few minutes of photographing these future newlyweds on the lovely dock outside of many amazing Bristol restaurants, we … well, we ran out of places to shoot.
Thankfully, in Rhode Island you're never far from a beautiful location and Colt State Park would prove quite the spot to capture some beautiful portraits of a beautiful and super fun to work with future bride and groom.

Brittany and Gio's engagement session was the second of back-to-back assignments for me on a beautiful Sunday afternoon but at no point did I feel tired because they both radiated so much positive energy that it was impossible not to be thrilled to take in the great weather and shoot some fun couples portraits.

As I said above, Brittany, Giovanni and I began their session at Independence Park and it really is a lovely, albeit small location. I adored many of the shots we got on the dock down by the water but I'd have to save, my favorite was definite the one right above. I love the way these two followed instructions and when I told Gio to pull his future bride close, he didn't hesitate.
Truth be told, I'm also just glad I didn't fall off the rocks and into the water as this angle was NOT easy to get into.
Following these shots, I asked Brittany and Gio if they'd be willing to continue our session at Colt State Park and they loved the idea. A small, maybe 10 minute drive, proved well worth it once we resumed our shoot.

If I had to pick my favorite moment of Brittany and Giovanni's engagement session, it was likely the photo above as Gio neglected to tell me he had injured his ankle prior to our shoot and still jumped right into position when I suggested this pose … despite the fact that he was in physical pain because of it.
The best photos from Colt State Park, though, were likely toward the end of the session as we capped our evening off with a special tucked away spot that I just love and then finished at everyone's favorite dock by the entrance of the park.

As Brittany, Giovanni and I headed our separate ways from Colt State Park, I couldn't help but think how much fun we really had on this beautiful summer evening.

It's so tough sometimes to get to know a couple in just an hour or two during their engagement session but I learned a ton about Brittany and Gio in our time together in Bristol. Namely, I learned how fun they are and how down to Earth they can be when it comes to posing.

The pair isn't getting married until next June but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't already looking forward to their big day.

So, thanks, Brittany and Gio for a great engagement session. I have no doubt this will only be topped when it's time for you both to say "I do" in nine months.

See you then!
