The Gardens at Elm Bank Wedding

The Gardens at Elm Bank bride and groom

Keisha & Timothy

I'm a big believer that whatever vibe you put into the universe, the universe responds in kind.

Perhaps that why, generally speaking, the couples I tend to attract as a wedding photographer always seem to be the most go-with-the-flow, relaxed and laid back people in the world.

Or it certainly seems that way when I get to work with folks like Keisha and Timothy.

Keisha and Tim weren't a couple of my radar a mere two months before their wedding day and I should have taken that as a sign at how easygoing they would be on the day they said "I do."
When I met with the bride, she stressed how important it was that her wedding was "simple and intimate" and I could tell minutes into the day that it would be just that.

And boy am I glad it was because this was one fun wedding that fit this bride and groom to a tee.

The Wedding Ceremony

To give you an idea of how relaxed Keisha and Tim were, my time with them started roughly ten minutes before their wedding ceremony. While this happens to me once or twice a year, I've generally found it leads to more casual wedding days and Keisha and Tim held true to this.

This wasn't a couple that needed every moment of their day captured. They wanted the most important parts and what better way to start than by walking down the aisle and getting married?

I loved this part of Keisha and Tim's wedding day as it was a lot of fun to watch folks from both of their individual families arrive and interact and the mood was a lot of fun despite a bright and shiny sun staring right in our eyes.

One of the craziest aspects to Keisha and Tim's wedding was that I didn't even meet the groom-to-be until he arrived to the ceremony as Timothy works for a water treatment company and couldn't make my initial consultation with his bride.

Not that it mattered. I knew five minutes after meeting this groom that he would be a lot of fun to work with and his genuine excitement as Keisha walked down the aisle gave me all the information I could have needed on this day.

Keisha and Tim's wedding ceremony was originally only going to feature about a dozen of their family members but, despite doubling before all was said and done, it still felt incredibly small and intimate as the bride and groom stood on the steps of a building at the Gardens at Elm Bank in Wellesley, Massachusetts and became husband and wife.

One of my favorite parts of Keisha and Tim's wedding were the formal photos. While this is normally the worst part of any wedding shoot for me, Keisha and Tim's families were a blast to work with and it made for a really fun and often hilarious session getting everyone to get together and smile for the camera.

Bride & Groom Portraits

As fun as their family photos were, I simply couldn't wait to get my time alone with the bride and groom.

Not only were Keisha and Tim gracious enough to leave me plenty of time in the timeline for their first portraits together as newlyweds but they picked an amazing day and a perfect location that made the photos come out great.

I really love these shots of Keisha and Tim, not only because we found a great backdrop and the lighting was perfect but because of just how well they nail the relationship these two have together.

These photos show how casual and carefree this bride and groom are and I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Details

Keisha, Tim and I spent plenty of time walking the beautiful grounds of the Gardens at Elm Bank and, once we were done, I couldn't wait to get inside to see their reception area and snap some detail photos.

Keisha and Tim spent a lot of time planning the little bits of their wedding day and it all looked great inside a beautiful and cozy banquet hall that would prove to be the perfect backdrop for a night of laughter and love.

The Wedding Reception

If there was any one drawback to a wedding as casual as Keisha and Tim's, it's that I knew there was a chance we wouldn't have some of my favorite events of a wedding reception.

Thankfully, we made it work regardless. And just because Keisha and Tim don't like to be the center of attention doesn't mean we couldn't have two beautiful toasts that talked about how great they are together and a couple of signature dances to start the night off right.

Keisha and Tim's first dance was about as easygoing as you can make a first dance and I loved how close all of their friends and family members felt to the moments as they circled them on the dance floor.

It wasn't a long day but it was a special one and it set the tone for the night perfectly.

I especially loved Tim's dance with his mother as I wasn't sure whether or not that would actually be happening until they were in each other's arms on the dance floor.

And given how sweet a moment it was between the two, I sure am glad they added it onto the schedule.

Ultimately, though, I knew this wedding would be best remembered for what happened after the dance floor opened up and, boy, was I right.

Keisha and Tim had an amazingly mixed group of people at their wedding reception but they all seemingly had one thing in common: The ability to rock out when the music hits.

     Talk about a fun reception!

As much fun as photographing Keisha and Tim's guests were while the two made the rounds and thanked those who came to their big day, it wasn't until the bride and groom returned to the dance floor that I felt like the true spirit of the party was revealed.

Keisha knew how to cut loose when she finally got to dance with her closest friends and Tim looked like he was having the time of his life every time I looked his way.

By the end of my time with Keisha and Tim, I knew I had shot so much more than I had planned to for such a low-key wedding day but I couldn't help myself.

This bride and groom have such an amazing chemistry and connection and I simply couldn't stop taking photos to commemorate their moments and memories of this special day.

I love getting laidback clients and telling their stories and Keisha and Tim are just the latest in a long time of amazing brides and grooms who somehow always remind me just how fortunate I am to call myself a wedding photographer.

So congratulations Keisha and Tim. Enjoy married life!
