For me, one of the hardest parts of shooting an engagement session is getting to know a couple and figuring out what they like and what kind of poses work best for them as a pair.
This is twice as hard if the session is the first time I'm meeting them but with Kristen and Mike, whose engagement session I shot back in October, all it took was finding out they're huge Boston sports fans to know exactly what kind of photo session we'd have.
Here's a hint: It was one of my most fun ones to shoot this year.
Kristen and Mike chose Lincoln Woods State Park as the location for their morning shoot and, though I'd never been there before, I can't think of anywhere that would've looked better that day as the fall foliage was truly stunning.
I knew right from the first few photos that these soon-to-be-newlyweds requested with their dog that these were my kind of people and, after the traditionally awkward feeling out period that happens with every engagement photo session I shoot, I loved what we captured.
After starting on a beautiful bridge in the park, Kristen and Mike and I made our way around the area and started looking for tucked away locations. I'm glad we did as the park is massive and there was so much to see and so much to shoot.
I'm especially glad the two brought a handful of outfits for their shoot as their second set of clothes were a pair of Rob Gronkowski jerseys and, as a Patriots fan myself, I couldn't help but appreciate the local sports touch.
My favorite outfit choice by this couple, though, were the Boston Bruins jerseys they chose to rock for the session.
The moment they put them on and I saw how well they contrasted with the fall leaf colors, I was pumped and these photos were definitely my favorite of the day.
I won't lie, though, I had a hearty chuckle when Kristen and Mike switched into their final outfits of the day, a fall-appropriate sweater set that they really only put on so their family members couldn't say they didn't wear anything "nice" for these important photos.
I could have worked with Kristen and Mike for hours more than I did and I can't think of a better way to sum up the engagement session we had as it was a ton of fun and one of the most beautiful and scenic I've ever shot.
So thanks Kristen and Mike for a super fun morning at a new location I can't wait to get back to and best of luck on your upcoming 2020 wedding!
