Sean & Cassie
Rachel's Lakeside, Dartmouth, Massachusetts
July 29th, 2017*
I love a good love story.
Whether it's a chance meeting that leads to romance or a long term friendship that blossoms into something more, hearing about how people met the person they're going to marry is one of the best parts of being a wedding photographer and Sean and Cassie, who got married back in July at Rachel's Lakeside, might have one of my favorite starts ever.
As I would come to find out in the maid of honor's toast, Sean and Cassie met through a bachelor's auction when the bride bid on the man she would later call her husband. Talk about a lucky start.
That story came toward the end of the my night with Sean and Cassie and, to me, summed up the entire wedding perfectly as this bride and groom were two people who you can tell were meant to be together and a whole lot of fun.
And their July wedding? I'm not sure you could have asked for better weather, a better location or better people.
What a night to remember.
My coverage of Sean and Cassie's big day began as most of my second-shooting assignments do as I spent a few hours with the groomsmen before the ceremony began and got to watch them interact.
Sean was the first in his friend's group to get married and it was obvious as the group were excited to send their buddy off with a day of laughs, jokes and emotional moments.
But that had nothing on the ceremony as Sean's bride to be was an absolute knockout who took everyone's breath away.
Sean and Cassie's ceremony was a beautiful and short reflection of their love together. Set in front of a lovely gazebo and surrounded by the friends and family, the two did their best to keep their emotions in check but the bride couldn't help but shed tears as the enormity of the moment got to her.
On top of that, the couple couldn't have asked for a more lovely fall-like day for the late July wedding. It was really a perfect day that they both dreamed of for years and it led to some of my favorite formal photos of the year. Seriously. The light on these was PERFECT.
For a wedding whose forecast called for rain, I don't think Sean and Cassie could have gotten much luckier than they did for their formal photo session. Add on to that the fact that their schedule gave us WAY more time than I'm used to having for bride and groom formals and you can see why I was in heaven leading into their reception.
And speaking of that reception, Sean and Cassie truly outdid themselves with their decorations. What a beautiful set up.
Details aside, I was really looking forward to Sean and Cassie's reception as the groom and his groomsmen talked a good game during groom prep and led me to believe it would be one to remember.
They were right.
Starting with the first dance and moving into a pair of heartfelt toasts that easily rank among the best I've seen this year, Sean and Cassie's party got off to a great start and never let up.
By the time it was time for me to say good night to the bride and groom, I could see by the look on their face that Sean and Cassie had achieved everything they hoped to from their wedding day and much more.
It's often tough to second shoot a wedding for a couple whom I don't know and haven't met until the day itself but seeing Sean and Cassie with each other and watching the way they interacted throughout my time with them, their love was evident even to me.
I know the two of them had a dream wedding and a rowdy reception and, honestly, I'm not sure you can ask for more.
What a day and what a couple.
Congrats Sean and Cassie!
