Cheyenne & Brandon

Every fall, I have at least one engagement session with a bride and groom that is so visually stunning because of the unbelievable foliage we are blessed to have in New England that I have to stop for a moment and think to myself "I get paid to do this?"

In 2025, that session was, without a doubt, Cheyenne and Brandon's engagement session at Roger Williams Park. From the moment we drove into the park and met in the parking lot until we were walking back to our cars, there wasn't a place we turned that wasn't stunningly vibrant and rich in every color you can imagine.

And that says nothing of the bride and groom at the center of this shoot who were so much fun to work with that their upcoming 2026 wedding shot right to the top of my list of most anticipated future weddings.

Suffice to say, it wasn't just a good day. It was the kind of shoot that makes you love what you do a little bit more than you did before and the kind of session every photographer needs to power them through the rest of the season.

My time with Cheyenne and Brandon began in my ideal first location at Roger Williams Park: an area slightly off to the side of the park's casino building and while I usually use this spot as a place to knock out the early awkward icebreaking poses, this spot was surprisingly beautiful and made me reconsider that for this shoot.

And that's how Cheyenne, Brandon and I ended up spending our first half hour together in a place I thought we'd only be for a few minutes.

But can you blame me, really? Look how amazing these colors looked, especially when I had Brandon toss his red zip-up hoodie back on so we'd get a bit more contrast between him and his lovely bride.

Cheyenne and Brandon came into their engagement session with a little bit of nervous energy but, within minutes, they were laughing and cracking jokes and felt totally at ease. I loved that so, so much.

In fact, in what I can only say is the MOST reassuring sign ahead of their future wedding, the pair weren't afraid to make the poses I came up with their own. Like, for instance, a photo where I had Cheyenne and Brandon walk down a path and the future bride effortlessly leaned into kiss her man without me even prompting it.

I loved that photo, but really all the photos of this string, and could have gone home happy right there and then.

The fun thing about shooting at Roger Williams Park in peak foliage season is you can go just about anywhere and take great photos. That's why I wasn't too concerned when I wanted to take Cheyenne and Brandon to the Iron Footbridge for some photos and discovered it was in use by some other folks who had a similar idea.

No worries, I thought to myself. I knew a spot slightly off the beaten path but within a short walk to the bridge that might look nice and, sure enough, it did.

In fact, I think being so flexible and spontaneous in terms of where I wanted to take this couple for their photos is part of why they were able to respond in kind of be so spontaneous in front of the camera.

When we finally made our way over to the Iron Footbridge, it was well worth the wait. I always know I've lucked out at Roger Williams Park when the foliage in this portion of the park is still on the trees and vibrant and it never got better than the afternoon of Cheyenne and Brandon's engagement session. This was, definitely, the best spot we could have chosen to cap our session together.

As we headed back to our cars, I couldn't believe I literally spent two hours with Cheyenne and Brandon and somehow didn't hit the two spots in Roger Williams Park that I've been to the most: The Temple to Music and the Japanese Gardens.

And, yet, somehow it didn't feel like we missed a single thing in this park.

Working with Cheyenne and Brandon was an absolute treat and one of the highlights of my fall and I can't wait to do it all over again in 2026. So thanks a ton Cheyenne and Brandon for an amazing engagement session and I look forward to finding a way to somehow outdo ourselves the day you walk down the aisle and become husband and wife. See you soon! :)
