Michael & Miranda
Squantum Association, Riverside, Rhode Island (Ceremony & Reception)
August 25th, 2018*
I love encountering new wedding venues that I've never photographed at and for Michael and Miranda's August wedding at the Squantum Association in Riverside, the timing could not have been better.
See, about a month after Michael and Miranda were set to tie the knot, I was set to have my first wedding at this venue for clients of my own so shooting their wedding as a second photographer was the perfect chance for me to get to know the location and see all it had to offer.
And, trust me, it had A LOT to offer.
But not as much as this bride and groom as Michael and Miranda were two incredibly sweet and touching people and watching them commit their lives together was as breathtaking and beautiful as the summer day in which they did it.
My coverage of Michael and Miranda's wedding day began with a fairly straightforward and relaxed groom prep session at the Biltmore Hotel in Providence.
I always love going to this venue as it's such a historic spot and truly a unique location in the middle of a city that's been undergoing a complete transformation over the last decade or so.
And getting to work with Michael in the waning moments of his single life was a privilege as well as this was one cool, calm and collected groom. That is, until we arrived at the wedding venue and he saw his bride for the first time during their emotional and beautifully touching first look.
I've got to be honest. Michael's reaction to Miranda was easily one of the best first look reactions I've ever seen.
What I loved even more was watching how easy they both made their formal photos before the ceremony look.
It doesn't hurt that this is one super attractive couple but add in one of the most beautiful locations I've shot at and you've got a great recipe for awesome wedding photos.
Michael and Miranda's formal photos were such a breeze that I almost forgot we still had a wedding ceremony to document. And what a ceremony it was.
Michael and Miranda chose to get married right in front of the Squantum Association and the dock/water provided a great backdrop to a touching ceremony where both made their feelings for each other crystal clear.
Following their ceremony, I finally had a chance to head inside and see how Michael and Miranda chose to decorate the inside of the Squantum Association and, boy, let me tell you: they knocked this out of the park.
I adored the way Michael and Miranda took full advantage of all the little intricacies the Squantum Association had to offer with its uniquely old-fashioned yet somehow still modern decor.
And though I didn't have much more time with the bride and groom and was gone soon after their first dance, I knew as I headed out of the Squantum Association that I couldn't wait to be back.
When all was said and done and my time with Michael and Miranda came to an end, I knew that I had experienced a full wedding day with an amazing couple who I hadn't even met six hours prior.
I'm always amazed when I get to know two people in such a short period of time and get to capture such a deeply personal day for them but Michael and Miranda made it easy.
Add in the fact that their wedding day was objectively one of the most visually stunning I had all year and it's easy to see why I may never see this bride and groom again but I'll cherish the memories we made on their special day for a long time to come.
So thank you Michael and Miranda for including me in your day. I can only hope you enjoyed the photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
