This week, little ol' Rhode Island caught some serious national attention as a well-intentioned tourism campaign went off the rails and resulted in viral memes, back-and-forth internet trolling and massive online debates.
The crux of the arguments came about as a highly-touted new state website launched ... with little more than stock photos and a ton of errors.
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of this launch was that the Ocean State has a ton of incredible athletes and sports but you'd never know it from the visitrhodeisland.com website itself as the only photo features a baseball park ... in Toronto.
As a local sports photographer based in Rhode Island, then, I find it's only fitting that this also happens to the be the week in which the winter high school sports season has come to an end.
And, because I actually kept up with my favorite photos this season, I was able to put together three pages worth of my favorite sports photos of the season.
I love the winter sports season. In fact, it's the only thing that gets me through the cold months. And this year, even though I didn't shoot a ton of games, I shot some pretty awesome ones and caught some pretty awesome moments.
The majority of these are shots that I took for Mare Studios and for www.risportsphoto.com but there are a couple that I took that appeared in the South County Independent and the North East Independent newspapers.
So if you want to see some REAL Rhode Island athletes, check out my winter sports photo galleries. Please click here for the beginning of the season, here for the middle of the season and here for the end of the season.
As always, thanks for checking out my website and, remember, #WeAreRI
